Giveaway: Londoners by Craig Taylor

I’ve just finished reading Londoners by Canadian author Craig Taylor (also a Londoner) and thought it’s too good just to leave on the tube. So I’ve decided to hold a giveaway and send my copy to one of you lucky lovely people who will definitely appreciate it.

Craig has spent many years interviewing Londoners – not the big names you see in the media or the authorities – but ordinary people like you and me, expats, born-Londoners and anyone whose life has been touched (negatively or positively) by this city. He steps back as an author and lets his 83 final interviewees speak for themselves. They tell us about their lives here, their first impressions, their worries, their stories and their hopes and dreams. Some are appalled by London; some live for it. But mostly, it is a book that is quite easy to relate to if you live in London yourself and therefore a fantastic read for the daily commute.

Want to win? Be a follower of LLO, share the blog link on Facebook or Twitter and then leave a comment telling me why you would love to read Londoners and your first impression of London when you arrived. I will choose a winer from a random number generator.

This giveaway is now closed. The winner has been notified by email.

Giveaway: Earrings from Deborah in America

To help wash away those Monday blues, I’ve got another giveaway for you today! It’s pretty pair of earrings handmade by Deborah, a talented jewelry maker from Klamath Falls, Oregon.

THE GIVEAWAY

A FEW WORDS WITH THE ARTIST

I’ve asked Deborah to tell us a little big about herself because I always love to get to know creative people. Here’s what she had to say:

I’ve been married for 20 years to the love of my life, with no children. All of my creative energies go into my many “hobbies”. Right now I am focused on sewing & jewellery making.

I’ve been making jewellery as a hobby since I was a little girl. I wear it and give it as gifts, but now I think I have gone beyond those limits. I love making all kinds of jewellery, but didn’t have an outlet for it. I love putting together all the different combinations of colors and textures. Each new combination just leads me to more new and different ones.

I have been sewing since I was a little girl also. My grandfather taught me about the love of beading and my grandmother & great-grandmother instilled a love of sewing in me. I have been making clothing since I was in high school; too long ago to talk about.
