10 Photographs: The (Super Random) Little Things in London

One of the best things about living in such a big city like London is the little silly random things that pop up each day that make you smile or roll your eyes or at least grab your attention away from the mundane, the everyday routine. That’s what this blog is all about.

Yesterday, for example, I saw a grown man in a suit with a briefcase chasing pigeons outside a tube station with a childlike glee. Apart from that he appeared perfectly sane.

But it’s not just the people. It’s the signs with the grammar mistakes, the little touches like the Cockney language option on a cash machine that my friend Rich photographed recently, stuff people leave lying about, stuff people carry through the streets, stuff people wear.

Here’s a few of the latest examples that made it to the LLO Flickr pool.

Have a happy Tuesday everyone! Hope you see something random that makes you smile.

Hello London.

It feels good to be in the city again, feel the life flowing around me. I made a spontaneous decision to come back to London early. I arrived on Monday. Hello!

While sorting out a job, a place to stay and catching up with friends, I haven’t found tons of time to head out and take photos yet, but they will come. That’s a promise.

In the meantime, here’s a few random London-y things that have happened since I arrived:

– Someone handed me a full travel pass for all day Monday when I arrived at Heathrow.

– Today we saw a sign for a “Missing parrot”.

– I got to eat some Gambian food. Yum yum!

– I got lost in Peckham and some nice guy helped me out by not only finding my destination on his handy iPhone map but also volunteered to walk me to a point where it was super straightforward. Nothing creepy about him.

– I took a photo of a unique house with faces above the doors in Lewisham where a madman yells from the corner.

What was the most interesting moment of your day today?

Men in Morph Suits

We were heading down into Liverpool Street station when seven guys dressed in “morph suits” – all different colours – casually walked by. In London, you always expect the unexpected, so I wasn’t too surprised, but it was the hottest day of the year and those were some pretty claustrophobic-looking outfits.

Morph Suit Boys

They seemed to enjoy the attention though, and even posed on the platform for photos before entertaining us with typical guy conversation on the tube. Plus, I got a high-five from the purple guy.

Morph Suits on the Tube

If you’re wondering, I did look up the website – morphsuits.com – advertised across their bums and, well, apparently “morph suits don’t need explaining”.

I did find out that they come in zebra print, comando and American flag varities. And it does offer some useful information such as an FAQ page with questions like “What do I wear under a morph suit?” “Where’s the best place to keep a wallet” and “Can I really drink through it?”

Just in case you were interested…

(They are, of course, American.) << — Lies. Turns out we can blame the Brits.
